There are churches that hold special services for pets during the holiday season. What a wonderful idea! How about other animals that share the Earth with us? Deer are not exactly favorite animals among gardeners, but they are certainly graceful creatures. I had a neighbor who put up a doghouse outside her front door to house and feed a three-legged coyote until other neighbors complained. I once saw baby foxes play like puppies under a maple tree in my backyard.
I extend my blessings to deer, foxes, coyotes, stray cats, squirrels, chipmunks, robins, blue jays, cardinals, and other animals who live in and visit my neck of the woods.
My heart goes out to the families of the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. We grownups failed our kids.
