White still life arrangement

Last Thursday night was the last class in the fall term for John Murray's still life class, which meant a party!  John baked his famous pear bunt cake as always; two awesome students brought brownies, wine, cheese, crackers, fruits, etc.  All of this cheered us a lot, which we needed, as we faced an all-white still life.  Yikes!  The above arrangement was actually a lot better than another with a plaster cast of a big, creepy foot, from which I managed to escape.

In the spring, John had inflicted on us a similar ordeal, in which I performed poorly.  This time, although I complained a little, I didn't flinch from the exercise.  First, I lowered expectations; then I decided to paint boldly.  I exaggerated colors when I saw only hints of them.  Why not?  All in all, I like "Coffee Pot and Kitchen Whites".  It's not a pretty still life you see all the time.  By the way, the entire class "flunked" (ha!) so we are all coming back in the winter term.  Thank you, John!
